‘In private equity, you’re the decision maker’, Caoimhe Cuthbertson, investment associate at Alcuin Capital Partners, explains her career journey, and what she loves about working in PE.
“In private equity, we are the people sitting with our funds, we sit with the capital and therefore we’re the decision makers. We’re the people who are choosing who the investment bankers are that we’re working with, we’re choosing who the lawyers we’re working with are, we’re choosing who the financial and the tax guys are that work on our deals. And so I think that’s the key difference, that’s why private equity appealed to me, was that, you know, even though I had the deal experience and the exposure of investment banking, I now am the decision maker and so you have a lot more control in terms of the deal process and timing as well.”
