‘Soft Skills are critical’: Be authentic, be curious and be a good communicator.
“For new deals, it’s important that when we go to businesses that we’re interested in, that the management teams we’re speaking to actually like us, that they want to be a partner with us. We could give them the best valuation, we could give them great terms in terms of the legal side. However, if they don’t want to work with us, they’re not going to choose us. And so I think the soft skills are really essential in terms of both our portfolio companies and particularly on the new opportunity side, if we can’t deploy capital and invest in firms, then we’re not doing our jobs well as investors. So I think the soft skills are really critical.”
